A HARD DAY’S NIGHT (dir. Richard Lester, 1964, 92 min.) The film debut of the Fab Four sees the boys on the run during Beatlemania, narrowly escaping crazed fans, journalists, their manager and anybody over the age of 30, dealing with Paul’s “mixer” grandfather and tracking down Ringo, who’s gone missing before a big gig. Lots of signature music, wit and Liverpudlian hijinks throughout, in a film that is a comedic, cinéma vérité forerunner of rockumentaries and music videos
