Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education

Join faculty, students, and staff for a workshop to follow-up on the Thursday, Oct. 22 presentation by Dr. Mary Murphy, the Hanson Center Visiting Scholar. Dr. Murphy’s research demonstrates that mindsets are deeply shaped by local organizational cultures—such as classrooms, workplaces, and teams—which can either foster learning, collaboration, and inclusion (“cultures of growth”) or reinforce threat and inequality (“cultures of genius”). Together, we’ll brainstorm concrete actions to foster growth mindset cultures across our campus.

As part of this session we’ll discuss: 1) What examples of “cultures of growth” do you see in your life at Lafayette? Where do you see “cultures of genius”? 2) How do Dr. Murphy's insights apply to your classes, organizations, departments, or programs? 3) What actionable steps can you and/or your group take to enhance a culture of growth at Lafayette?

Come share your ideas and develop action steps that will help us build more collaborative, engaging, and inclusive environments where everyone at Lafayette can thrive!

Refreshments will be available.
