The Marquis Consort is a student ensemble founded by Prof. Jorge Torres that explores musicof the Middle Ages to the end of the Baroque era, as well as traditional British Isles and Colonial American music. The program includes concertos, chamber music, and popular songs of the Georgian era, fiddle tunes of Scots and Irish origin, songs of the American Revolution, and music associated with the black fiddlers of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.
