Honoring missing and murdered women and children throughout the world, the Red Sand Project is a collaborative artwork conceived by New Tork based artist Molly Gochman, which uses sidewalk art and earthwork installations to create opportunities for people to question, connect, and take action against vulnerabilities that can lead to human trafficking and exploitation. The approach is symbolic, with the grains of sand, a metaphor for those individuals who fall through the cracks—whether the cracks of our social, economic, and political systems or those of our personal consciousness.
Community members and guests are welcome and encouraged to join us in filling in the cracks in rememberance of lost indioviduals. We do this in October in consideration of our indigenous peoples, and in particular, the Lenape and Delaware people.
