When undertaking an analytical project, the first step is preparing your data! Join us for an introduction to OpenRefine, a free, open source software that is specifically designed to help you clean, standardize, modify, and add structure to data sets using powerful bulk transformation tools.

Topics discussed:

- What is OpenRefine,

- Common transforms and functions to clean and prepare data for analysis,

- Using OpenRefine tools to preliminarily explore your dataset prior to analysis.

This session is the third in a five part series of workshops building data literacy and related practical skills delivered by Lafayette Libraries, co-sponsored by Lafayette Data Community. Each workshop is designed to stand alone, but they also compliment each other.
