On April 4th at 4:15 pm in Gendebien Room (Skillman 206), Liv Mariah Yarrow will deliver an opening lecture to accompany a student-created exhibition of Lafayette College’s ancient coins.  Her talk will center on the value of monetary objects as historical evidence and how deep continuities between the ancient world and modernity allow us to connect this evidence to the world around us.  Major themes will include imperialism, economics, religion, and social hierarchies. The presentation situates the invention and evolution of coinage in a global context.  All are welcome, no prior knowledge of the subject is necessary.
