The Border and its Meaning

In recent years, millions of immigrants have crossed borders. Some are choosing to move to seek better economic opportunity, others are forced to move due to social or political unrest. What does a border signify in this context? And how is migration experienced from either side of the border? Laila Lalami will read from Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits and discuss how her characters made the choice to leave home.
