 -1862)\, he and Eric Luhrs began collaborating on building a web-based \nd
 atabase that would make these records available to scholars and the public
 .  \nWorking with the records\, designing the database\, entering the data
 \, and \nimagining uses for the database have all been crucial\, challengi
 ng steps in \nthis project.  Our talk will provide a guided tour of our pr
 ocess over the \npast 3 years\, an adventure in the new field of the digit
