The ever popular Rubik’s Cube has simultaneously frustrated and fascinated generations of puzzle fans; it is so ubiquitous that there is a “World Cube Association”. Mathematicians, too, find the Cube interesting, for the puzzle cleverly encodes quite a bit of interesting mathematics. In fact, group theory can be used to find algorithms for solving the puzzle. In this talk, we will consider some of the algebraic properties of the cube.
