La Soufrière and The Fire Within are two of the infamous German filmmaker Werner Herzog's volcano films, each a documentary but both adopting entirely different attitudes toward one of nature's most impressive phenomena.
Lafayette Cinematheque brings classic, cult, international, independent, and rarely screened films to Landis Cinema throughout the Fall 2026 semester. From landmark works and recent restorations to horror, documentary, experimental cinema, and unexpected discoveries, each Friday offers a new reason to gather around the big screen. Select screenings feature introductions, conversations, and special guests from Lafayette and beyond, creating a space to watch, talk, and experience film together.
