Energy is a basic human need, yet serious inequalities persist in access to energy and exposure to harm. At the heart of these challenges lie fundamental questions of justice, calling engineers to develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between technology and society and a broader sense of ethics. This talk explores ways that issues of social justice have been incorporated into engineering thermodynamics courses.
