When:
Sunday, March 1, 2026 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Where:
The McKelvy House, 200 High Street, Easton, PA

Join the McKelvy Scholars Program for their weekly Sunday discussion at the McKelvy House (200 High St). Prepare to enter the McKopticon (McKelvy Panopticon) to discuss Fear, Surveillance, and Privacy. We will explore the social dynamics of fear and how it impacts the balance between our rights to privacy and the protection offered by surveillance. The surge in technology in the modern world has led to new tools that constitute constant monitoring, yet we seem to accept it and even consume voyeuristic content. We know that being observed changes human behavior, but who benefits from these observations? And when concepts like the data double, the male gaze, or double consciousness are investigated, is surveillance just a mechanism of power? Let’s take an Orwellian lens to society and decipher the question on everyone’s mind– Why do I always feel like somebody’s watching me?
