Chemistry has been woven into the fabric of Lafayette College since its founding, and now the Chemistry Department is proud to celebrate that legacy with an all-day Lafayette Bicentennial Chemistry Alumni Symposium on Saturday, April 25, 2026! This special event will take a journey through time—reflecting on our rich history, showcasing the dynamic work happening today, and envisioning the future of chemistry at Lafayette.

The symposium will feature two keynote speakers: Dr. Laneta Dorflinger (‘75), who has been a strong advocate and benefactor for undergraduate student research at Lafayette, and Dr. Roger Egolf (Penn State University), author of “The History of Chemical Education at Lafayette College” (Bull. Chem. Hist.2005, 30, 41). In addition, chemistry alumni will share their exciting career pathways and current research during short talks and a career panel! The celebration will also include a networking lunch and a poster session, featuring current students and alumni, which will provide an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and see firsthand the breadth of Lafayette Chemistry in action! At the end of the day, we will have a picnic to celebrate the past, present, and future of chemistry at Lafayette!

Please Register for the symposium by April 6, 2026!

We also encourage you to present a poster on your current research at the Symposium Poster Session! If you are able to present a poster, please submit your poster abstract/information by March 1, 2026!

Feel free to contact us if you need any further information!
