Mapmaking on the Web

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are powerful computer mapping applications that have become increasingly accessible to beginners. Our college subscribes to ArcGIS Online (AGOL), a web-based GIS, which is available to all with Lafayette credentials. Because it is so user friendly, one short introductory workshop can get users started and making their own maps. Join Librarian John Clark for a hands-on introduction to AGOL. Bring your own laptops and we’ll dive right in, learn the basics, and make our own maps. A limited number of laptops will also be available for use in the workshop. This introductory workshop will be followed a week later by second AGOL workshop introducing beginners to a bit more advanced GIS functionality.
