Refugee Action is thrilled to host the annual ECAR Gathering at Lafayette! ECAR is a higher-education initiative founded in September 2015. Its mission is to make every U.S. college and university a Resettlement Campus, a higher education institution that hosts refugees on campus grounds and supports their successful integration. Since ECAR’s inception, 20 campuses including Lafayette College, James Madison University, Old Dominion University, University of Tulsa, and St. Ambrose University among others have started their own ECAR Chapters.
Since 2022, ECAR's annual Gatherings have brought together a vibrant network of universities, resettlement agencies, refugee advocacy organizations, and community members. The goal of this conference is to deepen the connections between higher education and refugee communities.
The schedule and link to RSVP can be found here: https://gathering.everycampusarefuge.org/. Lafayette students and faculty do not have to pay to attend the conference! Enter the fee waiver code "WELCOMEREFUGEES" on the registration website to attend the conference at no cost.
Conference events will be held in Marquis Hall, the Quad, and Kirby Hall. Information about specific locations for workshops and presentations can be found here: https://gathering.everycampusarefuge.org/, as well as upon registration.
