Harm in the Water investigates the severe consequences of industrial water pollution on Black communities throughout the Mississippi River corridor. By weaving together the voices of local residents, activists, and scientists, the documentary exposes how historical patterns of environmental hazards continue to fuel a modern crisis. The film balances the gravity of these struggles with the profound resilience of those advocating for environmental justice, using a blend of lived experience and scientific data to create an urgent call for change.
About the Director: Dr. Kendall Moore is an acclaimed filmmaker and Professor of Journalism and Film Media at the University of Rhode Island. Formerly a journalist specializing in health, race, and the environment, Dr. Moore’s documentaries have aired on PBS and at international film festivals. Her distinguished career includes two Fulbright Scholar Awards, two Metcalf Awards for journalistic excellence, and the Rhode Island Film Fellowship.
