Applying for a Passport
Refer to the State Department’s website for passport application instructions. Please complete your application beforehand and print it single-sided and in color. If you don't have access to a printer, you can complete an application during your appointment.
If you have held a passport before, you must bring your previous passport to your appointment. If you have never held a passport, you must bring original, physical citizenship evidence (such as your birth certificate) to your appointment. You cannot apply for a passport without citizenship evidence and a photo ID.
You can have your photo taken at your appointment for a $15 fee, paid to USPS.
Renewing Passports
You may be eligible to renew your adult passport online. If you have to renew by mail, you can drop off your completed application and old passport without an appointment. Adult renewals only require an appointment if you need your photo taken. Please note that passports issued to minors under 16 cannot be renewed and you must apply for a new one.
Payment
Refer to the State Department's website for passport application fees. For new passport applications, the $130 State Department application fee is separate from the $35 USPS processing fee. Adult renewals do not pay the $35 USPS processing fee.
The State Department only accepts checks or money orders. USPS accepts checks, money orders, or exact change in cash.
