Lafayette Faculty will host a panel discussion on Ta-Nehisi Coates’ latest bestseller, The Message.  Recipient of numerous literary awards and accolades, Coates is one of the most important public intellectuals in America today.  In this provocative work, Coates travels across three continents—North America, Africa and Asia—exploring themes of storytelling, race, religion, history, discrimination, justice, politics and power.  Along the way, he draws a compelling throughline connecting South Carolina to Senegal to Palestine.

The interdisciplinary panel of faculty members include:

Mikael Awake, Assistant Professor of English

Youshaa Patel, Associate Professor of Religious Studies

Jeremy Zallen, Associate Professor of History
