Join Dr. Taylor "Tay" Rogers for a screening of her short film NOA: A Music Film and a conversation with Dr. Amy Marvin (Philosophy, Lafayette College) about her philosophical film and music work. NOA: A Music Film is a companion piece to the contemporary folk album “NOA," and is a highly collaborative project which includes movement, philosophy, poetry, music, and improvisation. The film weaves together nine tracks off the album, forming a non-linear story that strives to understand how we can embrace our grief and losses for purposes of inner and outer transformation in a modern context.

Dr. Taylor ("Tay") Rogers is a feminist scholar, artist, and activist in Chicago. They currently teach courses on themes of social justice and storytelling as an Assistant Professor at Governors State University. Dr. Rogers' research has most recently been published in Hypatia, and in Routledge's forthcoming critical reader on the thought of Charles Mills. She has presented her ideas about the importance of combatting emotional numbness for resisting oppression inside and outside of the academy. Their latest multi-media research project, "NOA: A Music Film," explores the liberatory role of grief using philosophy, music, dance, poetry, cinematography, and more. NOA recently won “Best Film” at the Bloomington Indiana Film Festival.  In addition to her teaching and research, Tay spends time supporting wellness and academic initiatives in IL prisons, as well as pursuing collaborative art projects. All of their work is inspired by themes of connection, of presence, and of embracing the depth of our emotional lives so necessary for collective healing.
