Sam Gilliam (American, born 1933, died 2022), one of the most innovative American abstract painters, visited Lafayette College three times as an artist-in-residence. Gilliam’s residencies resulted in creating new prints at the Experimental Printmaking Institute with Professor Emeritus Curlee Raven Holton. Prof. Holton will recount Gilliam's time on campus and discuss the works currently on exhibition.

As the Williams Center marks its 40th anniversary, we celebrate the stellar artists who have contributed to Lafayette College. This exhibition honors both Sam Gilliam’s life and his contributions to Lafayette College.
