Join the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Lafayette Alumni Association as they honor departed professor Erol Ulucakli through their lecture series. The chapter will be hosting the introduction of a newly published book on Thursday evening, February 15, 2024.
As a special feature to kick off the event, Pam Murray, the Distinctive Collections Librarian, will have a number of artifacts from the College collection that are representative of Lafayette’s tour on display from 6 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. in Special Collections, room 209, Skillman Library.
At 6:45 p.m. we will walk to Kirby Hall of Civil Rights, room 206, where John Becica, class of 1969, will discuss his book, Trail Tales, Chronicling Lafayette’s Adventures during his 1824-1825 Triumphal Tour of America - the tour which resulted in the naming of the College.
John will discuss his research and how the book came to be published for the upcoming bicentennial of Lafayette’s tour, along with a sampling of the 102 stories it contains. Information on purchasing the work online from the publisher in LaGrange, GA will also be provided.
Dessert and coffee will be served. Join us for an evening of socializing and learn about a very interesting time in the life of the great man for whom the College is named.
