Museum Studies Lecture by Dr. Sandra Rozental, Colegio de Mexico (COLMEX)

In this talk, Dr. Rozental will present on her forthcoming book on the extraction of a colossal pre-Columbian statue from the town of San Miguel Coatlinchan, taken by force by the Mexican state to Mexico's National Anthropology Museum  in the 1960s and the ways town residents experienced and continue to endure dispossession, as they are currently reclaiming the stone in myriad forms. She will also discuss the Mexican government's past and present efforts to repatriate objects from international Museum and private collections as a counterpoint to its own extractivist practices.
