In this presentation, Dr. Ahmer Arif will discuss how disinformation tactics have evolved in the digital age. Drawing upon his extensive research and expertise, he will shed light on the strategies, tactics, and mechanisms that disinformation campaigns employ in today's interconnected online environment.

Dr. Ahmer Arif is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin. His research lies at the intersection of computer science and social science, primarily within the fields of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). Dr. Arif's scholarly pursuits center on understanding how individuals utilize communication technologies, particularly social media, to propagate, shape, and counteract disinformation and misinformation. Dr. Arif's expertise extends beyond academia. He has worked as a researcher and consultant with several organizations, including Facebook, Yahoo!, The World Bank, and the United Nations.
