Jim Toia's 6 year project working with Cryptobiotic Soil, also refered to as Desert Crust, will be discussed. Toia's most recent project in the Mojave Desert, CryptoX, a large scale sculpture, will be highlighted.

Toia works with nature to celebrate environmental phenomena focusing on the wonders and issues of the natural world.

His exhibition Notes on Threatened Landscapes is currently on view at the Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ through July, 2024.
