Transitioning to college can be deceivingly challenging, but do not worry! Come take some time to learn about a number of support measures put in place that can help alleviate any stress or worry you may have.

This session is open to any first-year student. During our time together, you will get to know Dean Abigail Close, College Transition Specialist and Junior Class Dean, as well as some of your peers! Dean Close will share how she can support you during your transition to life (academic and social) here on campus! After this session, you’ll walk away ready to embark on a successful semester!

Topics covered include:

  • Discussion of the first-few days of class – what’s gone well, what’s been a challenge, how can we work to set ourselves up for success in our classes?
  • Goal Setting – what is the benefit of short and long term goal planning? Should you create academic, social, or personal goals?
  • Tips for getting organized
  • Open ended question/answer session – What questions are on your mind? Do you need help navigating My.Lafayette.edu? Would you like to review what a course syllabus can teach you, discuss Lafayette terminology, or anything else that you’ve experienced up to this point?
  • Review upcoming workshop topics, dates, and times!
