Exploring links between memory, history, and identity, Dr. Wilson-Fall's research focuses on narratives of African American families that present stories of ancestors from Madagascar. Can these narratives be verified by the archives? Dr. Wilson-Fall will discuss some of the narratives and the implications of these claims of ethnic diversity and national origin for American studies and Africana studies. Historically, stories of particular African ethnic backgrounds are generally perceived of as rare or non-existent among African Americans.
