This talk by Richard Moore, P.E. (Lafayette Class of '69), is about the field of environmental engineering, the ways a consulting engineering business is structured and operates, and what skills make it successful.

Mr. Moore is the President of Moore Engineering and has spent his career in the consulting business. His work exemplifies the integration of writing, public speaking, negotiating, and managing team dynamics with technical proficiency. Project manager is the most important position in a consulting business, and its success comes from the holistic connection of an array of skills.

Throughout his decades-long career, Mr. Moore has worked for public and private clients, both in the U.S. and abroad. The talk will touch on the different and unique challenges of those forums, including stories from his time in India.

Bio: Rick Moore is a Professional Civil Engineer specializing in water resources and management. He is widely published in the field and was President of consulting businesses in the US and India. Mr. Moore is a Lafayette College graduate who served two years in the Army and received a Masters at the University of Maryland before embarking on his professional career. Recently, Rick founded Moore Engineering, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, located in Boston MA. During the pandemic, Rick published two memories. One of his early years, covering his time at Lafayette and the second covering his time in the Army Corps of Engineers, one year as an instructor at the Fort Belvoir VA, Army Engineer School and the second as a Platoon Leader in Vietnam.
