Cristina Sharpe is Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Black Studies in the Humanities at York University. She is the author of In the Wake: On Blackness and Being, one of the most influential works in Black Studies in the past decade, and contributed an important critical introduction to Dionne Brand’s recent Nomenclature: New and Collected Poems. Her new book, Ordinary Notes, is forthcoming from FSG this spring.
