The Lafayette College Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for ensuring that research on people conducted by Lafayette faculty, staff, students, and guests of the College is in compliance with federal regulations for protecting the rights and safety of human research participants. Members of the Lafayette community frequently have questions about whether their projects need IRB review, as well as questions about IRB procedures and how to prepare proposals. An open information and Q&A session will be held on Friday February 3, 12:00-1:00 pm in Oechsle Hall room 224. Mary Ellen Jackson (Director of Sponsored Research, ex officio member of IRB) and Michael Nees (IRB Chair) will provide an overview of the types of projects that need IRB review, as well as the IRB submission, review, approval, and oversight process. Colleagues and students who are planning research projects with human participants are especially encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Provost’s office.
