September 22nd is internationally-celebrated Car Free Day! Take a moment to assess your current mobility habits and consider walking, biking or taking public transit today instead of a personal vehicle. Walking or biking from Fisher West to Kirby Sports Center instead of driving (a 15 minute walk) saves 404 grams of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere and decreases local air pollution. Traveling this distance roundtrip for 5 days in a week, walking would save enough fuel to power almost 500 smartphones! If every student chose this option every day of the year, we'd avoid 796 metric tons of CO2 equivalent from being emitted. The fuel saved would be enough to power 155 homes for a year!
