This virtual panel will highlight the contributions of highly accomplished women from male-dominated disciplines across academic divisions: Jamila Bookwala representing the natural sciences (Reflections from Pioneering Women in Psychology ), Jennifer Kelly representing the humanities (In Her Own Words: Conversations with Composers in the United States), Nita Patel (Senior Director, Engineering Lead Design Center-Farmington at Otis and current President of the IEEE Computer Society) representing engineering (Women in Engineering – The Complete Collection from IEEE), and Zohreh Emami (Alverno College) representing the social sciences (Engendering Economics: Conversations with Women Economists in the United States). They will address questions such as (1) What are some of the signature contributions from the profiled women? (2) What are the major themes of individual or contextual characteristics that helped these women excel?, and (3) How has doing the project shaped their own scholarship and/or approach to their discipline?
