The Lafayette College Jazz Ensemble will present their Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 5 at 6pm on the Williams Center Patio. The ensemble has been adjusted due to Covid and is a smaller seven-piece ensemble consisting of 3 trumpets, one tenor sax and a standard rhythm section of piano, bass and drums. The group will be performing several arrangements of standard jazz repertoire written by Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and Freddie Hubbard among others, all arranged specifically for the group by director Dr. Matt Vashlishan. This semester in particular allows for emphasis to be placed on individual improvisation as well as the written pieces, capturing the essence of this perfectly sized mobile ensemble that was so popular throughout jazz history.
