DESCRIPTION: \n\nJoseph Stramondo is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at S
 an Diego State \nUniversity. Professor Stramondo’s philosophical interests
  focus primarily \non the intersection of philosophy of disability and bio
 ethics. More \nspecifically\, he has written more than twenty scholarly ar
 ticles and book \nchapters on topics ranging from informed consent procedu
 res to reproductive \nethics to assistive neurotechnology. His current res
 earch is devoted to \ndeveloping two book manuscripts.  The first is under
  contract with \nRoutledge and will address the ways in which the field of
  bioethics fails to \naddress the moral salience of the social categories 
 of gender\, race\, \ndisability\, and sexuality. The second will offer a s
 ystematic\, if limited\, \ndefense of the permissibility of using reproduc
 tive technology to choose to \nhave a disabled child. Professor Stramondo 
 will present his paper\, “How \nDisability Activism Advances Disability Bi
 oethics.”
