 ar Ruben Cornejo \nCasares. They will discuss their film Change the Subjec
 t.\n\n \n\nChange the Subject (2019) is a 54-minute documentary film about
  a group of \nDartmouth students who challenged anti-immigrant language in
  the Library of \nCongress subject headings. Their advocacy took them all 
 the way from \nBaker-Berry Library to the halls of Congress\, showing how 
 an instance of \ncampus activism entered the national spotlight\, and how 
 a cataloging term \nbecame a flashpoint in the immigration debate on Capit
 ol Hill. In partnership \nwith staff at Dartmouth\, these students – now a
 lumni – produced a film to \ndocument this story. The impact of the film h
 as been wide-ranging\, inspiring \nlibrarians around the country and the w
 orld to examine the ways that systemic \nracism pervades the institution o
 f the library\, particularly in its \ncontrolled vocabularies.   \n\n \n\n
