Rachel Carson was not only an influential scientist, author, and environmentalist. Her book Silent Spring was also the product of a larger movement in environmental history; it was met with fierce resistance by industries who sought to discredit and slander her; and it contributed to a new era of environmental politics. This session of Lafayette Votes will discuss these issues to place Carson's work into a longer and global frame of environmentalism. Presented by Professor Ben Cohen, Professor Katalin Fabian, and Professor Jeremy Zallen. Zoom link to enter meeting: https://lafayette.zoom.us/j/95974792182?pwd=bVlMQWg0enpqVmE0Y1NCYXNHR1Nh...
