A strong advising relationship requires much more than helping students navigate degree requirements, institutional policies, and resources. To build a strong connection, we must understand who our students are and how they make meaning of their learning. Yet, it is equally important for us to be aware of how our own intersecting identities and experiences impact the relationship dynamic. This interactive workshop will focus on how introspection may allow us to recognize potential barriers in our connections so that we can build stronger bridges.
