The Lafayette College Percussion Ensemble will be presented in concert on Monday, December 3 at 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Center for the Arts Auditorium at Lafayette College. The 25-member group will feature a variety of musical selections and will incorporate more than 100 percussion instruments from all over the world. Highlights will include: Z-Conversion by Miki Minoru, whose compositions for percussion ensemble are noted for the mixture of Japanese and Western instrument and the complexity of tempo changes and special textures, a special mallet ensemble arrangement of Sonny Rollins’ standard, St. Thomas, a new djembe ensemble selection featuring the entire group, a signature Japanese styled taiko ensemble composition, and some special surprises!
The Group is under the direction of Dr. J. Larry Stockton, Professor of Music and head of the Department of Music. Free tickets are available at the Williams Center Box Office), and the public is cordially invited at attend.
