7:00 p.m. Curator’s Chat with Leni Stern Three of Africa’s most exciting women vocalists join forces in this third Acoustic Africa world tour. One of the highlights of our 2006 presentation of Acoustic Africa was Dobet Gnahoré, the Ivory Coast vocalist and dancer who has built a reputation as one of the most vibrant performers in world music today. Joining her on this tour are Manu Gallo, acclaimed as vocalist and bassist for Zap Mama, and Kareyce Fotso, a young Cameroonian singer whose music is an intriguing combination of Afro-pop, Blues, and traditional African music. The incandescent power of the voice, backed by an ensemble of traditional African instruments, featuring balafonist Aly Keita, invites listeners into the exciting hybrid worlds of ancestry, innovation, and discovery. The ensemble is curated by guitarist and producer Leni Stern. WDIY 88.1 FM, Lehigh Valley Community Public Radio, is our media partner for this concert.
