The Senior Class Council is proud to present this year's Senior Speaker, Frances Hesselbein, who will be delivering an address chronicling her experiences in leadership and the challenges she has faced along the way. All are invited to attend! Named the "Best Nonprofit Manager in America" by Fortune Magazine, Frances Hesselbein is a "pioneer for women volunteerism, diversity, and opportunity." Currently, the President and CEO of The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, Hesselbein previously has served as the CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. She is the Editor in Chief for the award-winning journal Leader to Leader, as well as co-editor of 27 books translated into 29 languages. During her tenure as the CEO for the Girl Scouts of the USA (1976–1990), she is credited with leading a turnaround for the organization, increasing their minority membership and establishing the Daisy Scout program for the youngest girls accepted into the Girl Scouts. Hesselbein was the first chief executive to come from the within the field in 67 years after rising from being a volunteer troop leader. Frances Hesselbein is also the recipient of twenty honorary doctoral degrees. In an effort to further recognize her commitment to effective and honorable leadership, the Senior Class Council has partnered with the Girl Scouts and will be purchasing close to 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies which will be available at the address for attendees for free. All of the proceeds will be given to a local Girl Scout Troop in Easton.
