As we engineer machines to do what humans can do, and as we engineer the biology of our own selves, we are becoming gods. Can we get good at being a god? In addition to the age-old questions that have haunted us from the beginning -- Who are we? What does it mean to be human?-- we now have additional big questions -- Who do we want to be? What comes after being human? The future is uncertain but one thing is clear: we are headed for a century-long identity crisis.

If we let it, new technology can make us more human. Our job at this moment -- before the technology is actually here -- is not to have good answers but to have good questions. Kevin Kelly, co-founder of Wired magazine, will suggest a framework for listening to this new powerful, magical technology, and questioning who we want to become and how we want to proceed.
