We’ve all been there. You are advising a student on a long research and writing project. The student has got a great topic and has done some of the research. But the clock is ticking, and so many questions about writing start to come at you: When must I start writing? How much writing can I really do before my research is complete? How much research is enough anyway?  Professor—help!!

In this panel discussion with some of Lafayette’s finest faculty mentors, we will examine these questions and more about how to find the right pace for student research and writing. Expect to come away with new ideas and strategies for your own one-on-one student mentoring.

Panelists for this session are Prof. Tamara Carley (Geology), Prof. Megan Rothenberger (Biology), and Prof. Ryan Van Horn (Chemical Engineering). The moderator is Distinguished Teaching Fellow Prof. Brett Hendrickson (Religious Studies).
