What are students’ first impressions of faculty and their classrooms? Which impressions last and set a tone that is carried through the semester? During this session, we will identify aspects of inclusion and exclusion to ensure that all students are aware of experiences associated with being an “insider” and an “outsider” in a group. We will use these aspects to draft a living contract for the classroom that sets actionable guidelines for participation and other related assignments. Finally, we will discuss how inclusive pedagogy can be applied to a variety of courses.

Lunch will be provided.
