Based on her exciting new book, Dr. Sylvia Chan-Malik will give a lunchtime lecture on the untold twentieth and twenty-first century history of U.S. Muslim women of color.
She will then lead a discussion of her book with faculty and students at 4:10 pm in the Grossman House as part of the ongoing series of events sponsored by the Al-Maydan bookclub.
Al-Maydan, or “Open Space,” is an interdisciplinary book club that meets
roughly once a month to discuss a book related to Islam and Muslims, spanning the
fields of religious studies, anthropology, history, and English. The book club is open
to all members of the Lafayette community—students, faculty, and administration.
