Join Hillel as we welcome Lian Najami, the first Arab-Israeli Rhodes Scholar, to Lafayette College.  Lian Najami grew up in a Muslim family, went to a Christian high School, and volunteered at a reform Jewish educational center in Haifa, Israel, her hometown. At the age of 12, Lian began volunteering at her local community center and by her 15th birthday, she founded her first start-up. Fluent in five languages, Lian was recently a featured speaker at the Forbes Israel 30 Under 30 Summit, where she discussed how we can bridge innovation through educational programs in schools — particularly in the peripheral areas of Israel. Lian recently completed a congressional fellowship at the US Senate, where she worked as a foreign policy advisor to Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI). She is a regular spokesperson at US campuses, where she presents Israel from a different lens, discusses her experiences with social entrepreneurship, and helps to raise awareness of invisible illnesses.
