Abstract:   I’ll describe some of my favorite puzzles and board games with commentary on their “value” and the current role of games in our society. I will then describe some methods for graphing multivariate data, leading up to a description of “Anscombe’s Game” — currently under development for the iPad. In homage to Anscombe’s Quartet, this game asks users to choose one of four descriptions of a multi-variate dataset. (If games were food, this would be the organic kale of iPad games. Those familiar with Candy Crush should understand the metaphor.) Finally, I’ll introduce “eDG-Communities”, a family of business-like models for tapping into Clay Shirky’s “Cognitive Surplus”.

WARNING: No significant mathematical results will be described in this talk.
