In December 2000, three women made history by being the first three African-American women to earn doctoral degrees in mathematics at the University of Maryland. This singular event was the catalyst for my entire journey from applied mathematician to university diversity, inclusion and equity officer.

Dr. Outing will talk about how his passion for mathematics led to him becoming the inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Vice President for Equity and Community at Lehigh University. This talk is geared towards undergraduate, graduate, and faculty members in mathematics, science, and engineering.
