Every year, the America READS program hosts a literacy day for local elementary school children at Lafayette where students engage in a day filled with activities relating to reading and literacy. This year our theme is cultures around the world and an appreciation for diversity with the day being centered around the book The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi. One of the biggest impacts of this day stems from a book fair that we set up which allows kids to take home books for themselves and their siblings. With that being said, we need your help! We will be running a book drive on campus from Wednesday, January 30 to Sunday, February 10th in order to provide the books for this fair. Please consider taking the time to collect some gently used books for grades K-8 and donating them when we get back. Co sponsored by Pi Beta Phi, collection boxes will be set up in Farinon College Center, Pardee Hall, Markle Hall, Skillman Library, and Marquis Dining Hall.
