Anne Kelly Knowles, McBride Professor of History at the University of Maine, and a principal in the Holocaust Geographies Collaborative, will lecture on recent work which "explores the geographies of the Holocaust at every scale of human experience, from the European continent to the experiences of individual human bodies."  Over the past decade, this collaborative research project's use of historical geographic information systems and other innovative methods for analyzing and visualizing the historical record has pioneered a spatial turn in studies of the Holocaust, " . . . putting forward models and a research agenda for different ways of visualizing and thinking about the Holocaust by examining the spaces and places where it was enacted and experienced."
