A poetry reading by the judge of the MacKnight Black Competition in Poetry, Shane McCrae. The winner of the MacKnight Black Competition in Poetry, Lucy Kahn, will precede Shane McCrae at the podium to read her winning poem.

One of the most exciting and influential American poets, Shane McCrae was a a finalist for the National Book Award and is a recipient of a Pushcart Prize, a Whiting Foundation Award, and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award.  A book-signing and reception will follow the reading. 

The MacKnight Black Competition in Poetry honors the memory of MacKnight Black, a 1916 graduate of Lafayette College and a significant American poet whose work includes images from technology and science.
