An ice cream social and poetry reading featuring the Jean Corrie Poetry Competition judge, sam sax, and student winners of the competition. An open reading will follow. Bring a poem to read!  After the open reading, pizza will be served during an informal question-and-answer session with sam sax. 

sam sax, poetry editor of BOAAT, is the highly awarded author of Madness (Penguin 2017) and the forthcoming collection Bury It (Wesleyan University Press 2018). sax is the recipient of the National Poetry Series Award, the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets, the Gulf Coast Prize, the Iowa Review Award, and the American Literary Award.  The two-time Bay Area Grand Slam Champion, he has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Lambda Literary.
